Zhang Zhung  Homestay, a hidden paradise is located in Kewzing Village, South Sikkim, India.

The older wooden and stone structure was built in the mid 18th Century by the late Cho Namgay, father of the present proprietor and his only son Mr Dathup  Bhutia . The Late Cho Namgay  was a well known and learned Bon monk of his time. He tended to most of the religious affairs in the monastery to appease the local deity (Lha in local dialect) of the whole state of Sikkim.

The solid stone foundation wall of the wooden structure has the precious Eight  Edges ( Rinchen SU GYAT) in the solid stone wall.. These represent the Eight  Auspicious  Buddhist  Signs or  “ Asthamangala “ in Sanskrit. The significance of each signs can be found in various  religious books  or  you may click this link www.fpmt-osel.org/gallery/signs.htm. The other half of the house is a modern structure complete with all modern amenities that was built just a couple of years ago.

It is a blessed, cozy home with a direct view of 2 important Buddhist  monasteries, “The Ralang” and “ The Tashiding”. It is also blessed by the spectacular view of  the majestic  Mt Kanchenjunga, Mt Narsing and Mt Kabru which is just     “amazing”. On clear days when the sky is blue, it seems the mountains are just a stone’s throw away.

The property also has exotic plants like “wind mill palm trees” that flutter in the cool breeze, synchronous with prayer flags ( Lung Ta), lining the property. During spring time the wild orchids, the blue bells, the wild roses, and the night blooming  Jasmine (Cestrum nocturnum)  just transport one to a Utopian land.

The property also attracts lots of birds, the common ones being the Myna, Asian Koel ,Magpie, Russet Sparrow, Owl , King fisher, Tailor Bird, Dove and the common Himalayan  Eagle.
