About The Tour
Hidden deep within the remote Dibang Valley of Arunachal Pradesh, the Aeyo Valley Trek is an extraordinary journey into one of the Northeast’s least-explored mountain landscapes.
Following ancient hunting trails of the Idu Mishmi tribe, the trek takes you through dense cedar, rhododendron and maple forests, across streams and hanging bridges, and alongside cascading waterfalls. As you move deeper into the valley, the landscape gradually opens into high-altitude meadows, dramatic mountain walls and a series of pristine alpine lakes.
The journey is as much about discovery as it is about trekking. Along the way, you can learn about the region’s rich botanical heritage, encounter rare medicinal plants and, with the right timing, walk through areas where Mishmi Takin are known to graze. Evenings around the campfire offer another dimension to the experience, with local folk tales and stories that bring the culture and traditions of the Idu Mishmi community alive.
At its most spectacular, the trail reaches the Aeyo Lakes, at elevations of up to 11,395 feet, surrounded by rugged mountains and untouched wilderness. The trek also takes you past Pomo and Zawru waterfalls, Aeyo Waterfall, forest camps and remote valleys that few travellers ever get to experience.
This is not a conventional Himalayan trek. Aeyo Valley is for travellers who want to go beyond the familiar, walk through landscapes that still feel wild, and experience Arunachal Pradesh at its most remote and authentic.
