About The Tour

This trip is for those who enjoy long walks through pristine forests. We will take our time and explore, observe as much as possible looking out for interesting plants and fungi, learn about the many endangered trees species found here and all the animals associated with them. Namdapha is also famous for its incredible butterfly and moth diversity. Every stream and water body attracts a number of stunning butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies. Namdapha National Park is all about the most magical and untouched landscapes, snow-capped mountains, gushing rivers with grasslands, and pristine old-growth forests. Due to zero light pollution, it is one of the best places for stargazing and astro-photography as well. 

Please note that we are visiting one of the most remote national parks in the country.

Accommodation and meals are basic however always clean and delicious. There will be no network for a bulk of the trip. We will be accompanied by an extremely reliable and experienced field team and guide.

Dibrugarh to Miao
Day - 1

Dibrugarh to Miao

Fly into Dibrugarh airport based on the given timing, meet the group and drive to Miao in Arunachal (4 hrs). Check into the hotel in Miao and relax rest of the day. Overnight at Miao.

Explore Deban Forest
Day - 2

Explore Deban Forest

After breakfast, drive to Deban Forest Rest house inside Namdapha NP. Post lunch, birding walk around the property. After dinner, a short night walk to find nocturnal wildlife like slow loris, large Indian civet, red and particloured flying squirrel, Hodgeson’s frogmouth and owl species. Overnight at Deban

Deban to Hornbill Camp
Day - 3

Deban to Hornbill Camp

Early breakfast and check out from Deban. Set off for Hornbill camp, a slow trek through pristine and untouched rainforest inside the national park. We cover about 8 kms, keeping an eye out for anything interesting on the way. With the kind of diversity Namdapha has, let your imagination run free with the possibilities. Reach Hornbill camp and set up camp – true to it’s name, this spot is the best place to see Wreathed, rufous necked, brown and great hornbills. Overnight at Hornbill camp

Walks around the Camp Site
Day - 4

Walks around the Camp Site

Spend the day walking around camp to areas such as Bulbulia (hot water spring) and other nearby streams. The idea is to take it slow and make the most of each area we spend time in. Observe the smallest of creatures and also try and find anything that was missed earlier. Overnight at Hornbill camp

Hornbill Camp to Noa Dehing River Camp
Day - 5

Hornbill Camp to Noa Dehing River Camp

After breakfast, walk to the next campsite along the banks of the Noa Dehing river. Chances of finding the critically endangered white-bellied heron and the rare Blyth’s kingfisher. Overnight at campsite

Back to Deban Forest Rest House
Day - 6

Back to Deban Forest Rest House

After breakfast, we walk till the nearest roadhead and drive back to Deban Forest Rest House. This road connects Arunachal to Myanmar and passes through the national park and some very remote villages. Settle down and relax at the FRH. Overnight at Deban FRH

Day - 7

Early morning drive and walk from Deban to spot birds, butterflies, plants, fungi and everything else that comes our way. Good chance of spotting hoolock gibbons too. Breakfast had in the field. Return to Deban by lunchtime. Post lunch walk to the Nao-Dehing river or at your leisure. Post dinner, night walk to spot more wildlife. Overnight at Deban FRH

Day - 8

Back to Dibrugarh Airport

After an early breakfast, depart for Dibrugarh airport (6 hrs) to catch your flight out.
