Offbeat West and North Sikkim Tour

On arrival at airport/NJP, our representative will meet you and you will be transfer to Rinchenpong (Rinchenpong is a town in West Sikkim, India. It sits at an altitude of 5576 feet). Travel time to Rinchenpong is approx. 4.5 hrs. Reaching Rinchenpong, drive for 10 minute to reach the property. Drive is through groves of bamboo to a beautiful rustic heritage farmhouse which was built in 1833 and remodeled in 1966. The homestay is run by Thendup Tashi and his wife Pema, who manage the 44-acre mountain farm which consists of open mixed forest of pine, Himalayan alder, schima, chestnut, magnolia, rhododendrons, cherry and others.

Overnight at Rinchenpong: Yangsum Heritage Farmhouse

There are number of trails around Yangsum Farm and Rinchenpong, where hikers get to experience the rich and diverse vegetation of Sikkim. The walks are through villages, forest along plain ridges with undulating elevation making the walks easy and less tiring. There are walks, one can also see the unique cultivation practices and varied range of crops planted by the farmers of villages. An excellent opportunity to learn traditional recipes and cooking methods of Sikkim cuisine on a wood burning hearth.
The farmhouse serves various Sikkimese cuisines which are prepared from fully organic vegetables cultivated in the farm premises. Visitors are most welcomed to learn to prepare the delicious Sikkimese cuisines at kitchen of the farmhouse.

Overnight at Rinchenpong: Yangsum Heritage Farmhouse

Post breakfast at Rinchenpong, we travel to Dzongu. Dzongu - the special Lepcha reserve, lies in the North District of Sikkim amidst deep valleys and lush forests of the Himalayas. An almost virgin territory with a scanty population of Sikkim’s native inhabitants, it is a beautiful land of dense jungle groves and pristine glacial streams. There are numerous waterfalls cascading down steep cliffs and natural hot springs bubbling at the various creeks and caves.
You will be staying at Munlom Nature Resort in Dzongu which is a beautiful Nature Resort surrounded by nature. You reach by early evening and rest of the day on leisure.

Overnight at Dzongu: Munlom Resort

Post breakfast, we go for an excursion to Sulphur Hot Spring at Dzongu. After a one hour drive, we reach at our stop at the Hot Springs in ‘Lingdem’, a beautiful little hamlet in a cove with a sulphur hot spring that is operational year round. After the refreshing hot spring bath, you come down to Mamtamn riverside. Return to the property by afternoon and evening is leisure time (option of doing walk to monastery).
OPTIONAL (Additional cost depending in the number of person)
We arrange fresh cooked meal at the riverside with produce from the nearby farms. Post picnic, visit sulphur hotspring and return to the property by evening.

Overnight at Dzongu: Munlom Resort
 

Post breakfast, move towards Lachen. Travel time is approx. 5 hrs (including stops for lunch and sightseeing on the way). Lachen is the last permanent settlement en-route to Gurudongmar lake. It’s is a sleepy village with simple hospitable hotels and homestays within the village. There are some sights of interest one can visit on the way towards Lachen; Mangan, Singik view point, Chungthang

Overnight at Lachen: KhenKhim Regency

Early morning around 6:30am, move out for day excursion to Gurudongmar Lake & Thangu Valley (The day starts early as Gurudongmar being located at close to 18,000 feet requires an early turn around to avoid getting caught in bad weather). Driving time from Lachen to Gurudongmar lake is 3 hours one way. After sightseeing, return to Lachen for lunch and post lunch, leave for Lachung.

Overnight at Lachung: OurGuest Camp Lachung

This day covers considerable ground exploring the famous Yumthang Valley (Valley of Flowers) situated at 12,000 feet in the Singba Rhododendron Sanctuary, Yumthang hot-spring and Yumesamdong (Zero point), after sightseeing return to Lachung.

Overnight at Lachung: OurGuest Camp Lachung

Post breakfast, checkout rooms and head towards Gangtok. Visit Bhimnala & Naga Waterfalls on the way. Driving time is approx. 4.5 hrs. Arrive Gangtok in afternoon and check into your residence. Evening is leisure time and you may explore MG road on your own.
