Begin your morning at the Angkor National Museum, where multimedia exhibits trace the rise and glory of the Khmer Empire. Learn about the symbolism and architectural evolution that defined Angkor’s sacred temples. Next, travel to the Roluos Group Temples, the earliest capital of the Angkorian era (9th century). Visit Bakong, Preah Ko, and Lolei — temples showcasing the early stages of Khmer art and architecture. After lunch, continue to the Grand Circuit Temples, including Preah Khan (a temple dedicated to King Jayavarman VII’s father), Neak Pean, and Ta Som, set amidst serene forested landscapes and overgrown ruins.

Explore the Terrace of the Elephants and Terrace of the Leper King, once used for royal ceremonies. In the afternoon, visit the awe-inspiring Angkor Wat, the largest religious structure in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk through its galleries depicting Hindu epics and admire its iconic lotus towers. Stay back to witness the sunset over Angkor Wat, when the temple is bathed in golden light — a truly magical sight.

After breakfast, drive 35 km to Banteay Srei, a pink sandstone temple often called “The Jewel of Khmer Art.” Its intricate carvings and petite proportions make it one of the most beautiful temples in Cambodia. Return to town for lunch (optional at a local restaurant) before heading south to the Kampong Phluk Floating Village on Tonle Sap Lake — Southeast Asia’s largest freshwater lake. Cruise through wooden stilt houses and mangrove forests, and observe the unique lifestyle of fishing communities who live harmoniously with the rhythms of the water.
