The Road to the Foothills

The journey begins as you’re picked up from Delhi or Delhi Airport, leaving behind the city bustle for the serene foothills of Kumaon. The drive winds through rustic landscapes and lush greenery until you reach Kaladhungi by lunchtime — a quaint village once home to Jim Corbett himself. After a warm local lunch, your first stop is the Corbett Museum, where the stories of
India’s most loved conservationist come alive through his photographs, hunting rifles, and writings. As the sun sets, the forest breeze cools the evening, setting the tone for days filled with culture, community, and colour. Dinner is served at the stay, followed by a peaceful night’s rest under the starlit sky of Kaladhungi.
Early Morning Pickup (7 AM) from Delhi and Transfer to Kaladhungi (Approx 300 kms| 6 hrs Drive)
(This village was established by Jim Corbett himself. He settled around 40 families that time and when he moved to South Africa he distributed the land to the families and at present descendants of them are residing and engaged in various activities like farming, jungle guides, jungle restoration and preservation activities.)

As the morning sun touches the tranquil village of Kaladhungi, guests wake up to a delightful traditional breakfast — fresh Gujiya, crispy Mathri, and sweet Laddu, paired with the aroma of Mathra simmering on the stove. Soon, laughter fills the air as everyone joins a hands-on cooking session, learning the age-old recipes passed down through village kitchens. By afternoon, the village comes alive with festive anticipation for Holika Dahan — the sacred bonfire that marks the triumph of good over evil. As the flames rise, stories of faith and folklore echo through the night. Later, the mood turns magical with local tales, folk music, and dance performances under the starlit sky. Guests enjoy a hearty dinner before settling in for a peaceful overnight stay at Kaladhungi.
