The North Sikkim Tour by OurGuest is a breathtaking Himalayan journey that takes travelers through some of the most scenic and remote regions of Sikkim. This multi-day itinerary combines high-altitude lakes, snow-covered mountains, picturesque valleys, and authentic local culture, offering a perfect mix of adventure and nature.

The tour begins with a scenic drive from Bagdogra/NJP to Gangtok, following the winding Teesta River. From Gangtok, travelers journey deeper into North Sikkim to explore Lachen and Lachung, two charming mountain villages that serve as gateways to iconic destinations like Gurudongmar Lake and Yumthang Valley

Highlights of the journey include the spectacular Gurudongmar Lake, one of the highest lakes in the world at nearly 18,000 feet, and the beautiful Yumthang Valley, often called the “Valley of Flowers,” located within the Singba Rhododendron Sanctuary

Tour Itinerary

Day - 1

Bagdogra Airport/NJP Railway Station to Gangtok

On arrival at airport, our representative will meet you and you will be transfer to Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim. The drive is parallel to the Teesta river for much of the way and driving time is approx. 4.5hrs.

Day - 2

Gangtok To Lachen

Morning around 9:30 am after completing permit formalities, our car will pick you from your residence and move towards Lachen. Travel time is approx. 5.5 hrs (including stops for lunch and sightseeing on the way). Lachen is the last permanent settlement en-route to Gurudongmar lake. It’s is a sleepy village with simple hospitable hotels and homestays within the village.

There are some sights of interest one can visit on the way towards Lachen. Highlights: Seven sister waterfalls, Singik view point, Naga Wtaerfalls, Chungthang.

Day - 3

Lachen To Lachung Via Gurudongmar Lake

Early morning around 6 am, move out for day excursion to Gurudongmar Lake & Thangu Valley (The day starts early as Gurudongmar being located at close to 18,000 feet requires an early turn around to avoid getting caught in bad weather). Driving time from Lachen to Gurudongmar lake is 3 hours one way. After sightseeing, return to Lachen for lunch and post lunch, leave for Lachung.

Day - 4

Lachung To Yumthang Valley and Return To Gangtok

The day covers considerable ground exploring the famous Yumthang Valley (Valley of Flowers) situated at 12,000 feet in the Singba Rhododendron Sanctuary and visit Yumthang Hopspring on the way back to Lachung. Driving time from Lachung to Yumthang 1.5 hours one way. Post sightseeing, drive down to Gangtok.

Day - 5

Excursion to Tsomgo lake & Baba Harbajan Temple

Post breakfast around 8:30-9:00 am, leave for a day excursion to Tsomgo Lake & Baba Harbajan Temple. Tsomgo Lake is a significant site for the locals as it is considered a holy lake, frozen during winter months and a clear dark shade of blue in summer months. There’s some fun ‘Yak-rides’ available organized by locals and these can be booked directly at the site with them.

The drive itself is picturesque and one attains an altitude of 12,000 ft.). Baba Harbajan Temple (The temple lies amidst the Nathu-La and the Jelep-La passes and is built in the memory of Harbhajan Singh a sepoy in the 23rd Punjab regiment). Post sightseeing, return to Gangtok.
