Know your HostCherrapunjee Holiday Resort n Cherrapunjee is a family run Nature Resort and is one of the first resorts in Cherrapunji. The resort is tucked away deep in the jungles, about 15 kms from Sohra, Cherrapunjee offering breathtaking, picturesque views. The location is pure bliss as it offers a very majestic view of waterfalls, hills and the clouds surrounding those hills. There is also an infinity pool near the reception. The rooms are lovely and have some really good views. The beds are super comfortable, the interiors are beautifully designed, and they provide all necessary toiletries, ensuring guests feel very comfortable. The staff are incredible, always greeting the guests with warm smiles, and they employ locals from the village. They have separate kitchen for vegeterian food and also provide Jain food on request. They have live music, cultural program and games in the evening and many times guests get to listen to khasi songs from talented singers of a local music band. A standout feature of Cherrapunjee Holiday Resort is that they provide accommodation and dining for drivers as well.
We highly recommend this place for its exceptional hospitality, service, wonderful people, and, of course, the delicious food!

The Promoters I, Denis P.Rayen hailing from Madurai, Tamil Nadu and Mary Carmela Shati hailing from Laitkynsew where the Resort is located used to visit Laitkynsew from different parts of India for 18 years to spend their family holidays. They established Cherrapunji Holiday Resort, the first resort in Cherrapunji way back on 12th June 2000 when there was no accommodation available in the entire Cherrapunji area for tourists. . In those days, Meghalaya Tourism used to bring Tourists to Cherrapunjee Town from Shillong on a Day Trip by bus to show Nohkalikai, Nohsngithiang and Kynrem Waterfalls, Mawsmai Cave, Rama Krishna Mission Museum, Thangkharang Park and the dramatic terrain with deep valleys and the view of Bangladesh Plains from the Hills. They are still continuing the Service. Tourist Taxies also ferried tourists to and fro Shillong on day trips. Still, but for a few people having small shops at the Viewpoints, not many local people were interested in or benefited from Tourism.
