By Air
Tezu’s recently come up with a civilian airport in A.P in Sept’2017. With a small airport in town, Tezu’s airfield is typically used for charter flights, hence the nearest commercial airport is considered in Mohanbari, Dibrugarh. With a number of flights that operate between Dibrugarh and Delhi, Itanagar, Kolkata, Guwahati, the best way to reach Tezu is by flight. On arrival, you will find multiple taxi options in the town from the airport. While Mohanbari is apt for domestic travel and is just 154km from Tezu, the closest international airport to town is in Guwahati.
By Train
The nearest train station to Tezu is in Tinsukia, which is conveniently accessible and well-connected to most Indian metros which include Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Guwahati. From Guwahati there’s a train to Digboi once daily which takes about 13 hours to reach and then on arrival at Digboi, you can hire a cab to travel to Tezu, which would take another hour and 45 minutes. Train number 15603 operated by Indian Railways leaves Guwahati at 20.40 hours for Digboi. Alternatively, you’d take a train from New Delhi to New Tinsukia Railway Station, which entails a journey time of 38 hours approx. and then you make the onward journey to Tezu by taxi in roughly 2 hours.
By Road
Tezu enjoys excellent road connectivity with Assam and there are a number of Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Bus Services, Private Buses, and Private Hire Taxi transport options available for a road trip to town. Buses leave for Tinsukia once daily and take about 10 hours to reach at an estimated fare of INR 800. On arrival at Tinsukia, you can then hail a taxi for another hour and 44 minutes of a road trip to Tezu for approx. INR 1,600. You can book your ride to Tinsukia on RedBus.
