PaliGhar is a scenic countryside farm-stay situated at Lower Echhey, which is about a 30-minute drive from Kalimpong town. It offers an authentic, rustic and comfortable experience of Nepali culture, heritage and cuisine with the hope to protect from the effects of globalization. The farm with 3+ acres of field land along with their own perennial water source offers a multi-dimensional experience of a farm-stay based on the concept of a home-stay. Since its inception, PaliGhar continues to promote local craftsmen and architecture to not only support and uplift the livelihood of our local community, but also as an effort to keep age-old practices alive.
PaliGhar has only 2 individual cottages offering only 2 guest rooms for now with attached bathrooms, a verandah and an in-house kitchen, the hygiene level of which is maintained with the highest international standard.
The inspiration for the cottages derives from traditional architectural styles using natural materials to perfectly blend into the rural landscape. The construction of these cottages include mostly locally available resources such as bamboo and mud bricks that were hand-made by local craftsmen.
Today, most of these traditional building forms are a dying art and thus, the concept of PaliGhar was to safeguard our rich heritage while providing guests with a real understanding of the rural life.
However, we have otherwise not compromised on the quality of comfort for guests that we are well aware of. The PaliGhar stay experience is an amalgamation of old and new, and provide guests the best of both worlds.
Experiences & Activities at PaliGhar: - Nature Walks - Farming - Village Walks - Spiritual Visits - Organic seasonal vegetables and herbs - Milk and eggs readily available from the farm/ village - Guests may feel free to help pick seasonal vegetables and fruits from the garden, eggs from the poultry and also join the PaliGhar team in preparing a meal to learn the art of cooking Nepali cuisines.
