Turuk Kothi is one of the best luxury homestays in Sikkim especially for families and couples. This delightful property is a hidden gem, away from the hustle and bustle of India and even away from the busyness of the small towns of Sikkim. Straight out of a fairy tale, the lawns are well manicured and so is the garden which is a delight to watch while sipping on a hot cup of Sikkim's tea or Nescafe Gold coffee from the verandah of your cottage. The main building stands amidst a sprawling courtyard fragrant with magnolias and plumerias. 

The rooms are excellent with Magazines to read, complimentary tea and coffee, soft beds, clean white sheets and towels, a bathroom sparkling clean and two types of shower with curtains, a hair dryer and loofah. The individual cottages are towards the periphery, surrounded by thickets of bamboo, lily bushes and curated orchards.

The dining hall is hosted in an extension of the main cottage that reeks of ancient heritage and Nepalese culture. 

History of Turuk Kothi

Turuk Kothi has stepped gracefully through many generations transition. Built in 1848, the uncharted territory of Sikkim, Turuk Kothi was home to the revered and admired, Laxmi Das Pradhan, first minter of Sikkim. Even after over 160 years, the descendants of Laxmi Das Pradhan continue to live in the same house. Today, Shri Hirendra Pradhan (the fifth descendent of Laxmi Das Pradhan) and his heart warming family welcome their guests from the world over to enjoy their exclusive and discreet 3 private cottages, 2 stunningly restored suites, unique and distinctive old world charm blended with the sound of harmonizing trees and the smell of fresh lush garden.

Turuk is great place to break journey either at the end of your tour or at the start (if your flight arrives late). Turuk is 90 kms away from Bagdogra airport (3 hours time), 30 kms from Kalimpong, 52 kms from Darjeeling and 67 kms away from Gangtok.
