Mungpoo has a bazaar called Reshep, a bungalow and a rest house under the control of the cinchona Directorate. It is a small mountain village located roughly at 31 Km from Darjeeling, West Bengal. Part of Sittong-III, this small village is infested with colourful flower nurseries, tea gardens, lively, gurgling mountain-streams and a series of cinchona plantations.

The Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore visited Mungpoo quite often between 1938 and 1940. He used to stay at the residence of his protége Maitreyi Devi, who was herself a renowned poet and novelist.
